Grade 3 - English

​A 3rd grade English curriculum will build on the former classes. Child’s grammar and writing skills expand as they write longer content and copy with more detail.

In third grade, students should be fluent readers. They should be able to:

  • Use better vocabulary to answer questions.

  • Compare and comprehend information.

  • Proper use of punctuation and capital letters.

 

Objectives for Reading in Grade 3 

  • Read fluently.

  • Paraphrase stories and explain characters

  • Use new words in sentences.

  • Read non-illustrative books

 

Objectives for Writing in Grade 3 

  • Write longer text.

  • Well-paced handwriting.

  • Use punctuations correctly.

  • Takedown dictation.

 

Objectives for Learning Grammar in Grade 3 

  • Use proper punctuation.

  • Noun and verb forms (singular/plural).

  • Understand parts of speech

  • Adjectives.
